Guidelines: Choral Competition

Theme: “Colores. Vida. Alegria.”



GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. The competition is open to all academic organization/ units of the ADZU.
2. Each unit/ academic organization is allowed to have one entry for the competition.
3. Each choral group is required to render/ perform a minimum of two compositions, a warm-up song and the contest peace: LevantaZamboanga (Winner of the Chavacano Pop Music festival 2014). There will be a maximumof ten-minute on-stage performance (including warm-up song) There will be a one-minute grace period for entrance and another minute for exit.
4. A choralgroup shall not have more than 40 members and not less than 20 members, excluding the accompanist. One (1) point of the total score will be deducted FOR EVERY PERSON in deficiency or in excess of the provision.
5. The members of the choral group should demonstrate the ability to add movement or choreography to their performance that complements the music.
6. Lyrics of the songs should be wholesome and NOT sexually vulgar, this also includes the choreography / movements.
7. A choralgroup must have an accompaniment. Outside trainer is allowed, however the accompanist must be a bonafide student of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University and must be officially enrolled  in the second semester of SY 2014-2015.
8. The group is responsible for bringing their own musical instruments.
9. Each unit/ academic organization shall have the discretion of choosing the accompaniment they desire to make use of.
10.         All contestants of each unit / academic organization including accompanist must submit their entry together with their photocopy of students’ ID on or before NOVEMBER 21, 2014.To Ms. Jessica Fernandezat the Grade School.
11.         Props are allowed to add up to the performance as long as it does not violate the Ateneo/Ignatian values and sensibilities.
12.         Costumes are encouraged to add up to the total performance however, it must be decent and proper for the performance.
13.         The contest shall be held on December 06, 2014 (Saturday) at the MPCC at 6:00PM.
14.         The decision of the board of judges is final.

1. Voice Quality      - 20%
2. Dynamics and Style - 10%
3. Blend and Balance  - 10%
4. Warm-Up Song      - 10%

CHOREOGRAPHY
·         Creativity and Originality   - 20%
·         Synchronization of Movement  - 10%

SHOWMANSHIP
·         Stage Presence     - 10%
·         Costumes and Props - 10%

GRAND  TOTAL       100%

POINTS:

  • 30 points = First
  • 15 points = Second
  • 10 points = Third
  •  5 points = Fourth
  •  3 points = Fifth
