ATENEO FIESTA 2014
I.
QUALIFICATION
1. A
participant must be a bona-fide student (officially enrolled for the 2nd
semester of school year 2014-2015) or an employee1 of the Ateneo de Zamboanga
University.
2. A
student officially enrolled in a particular course must play for the academic
organization to which his course belongs. In case he is enrolled in two
courses, he must choose only one academic organization to represent.
3. The
Committee on Sports shall provide entry forms for each event an academic
organization shall choose to participate in. A clear photocopy of the athlete’s
identification card shall be pasted on the forms together with an indication of
his status (regular or alternate).The Entry Forms shall be verified for its
authenticity and signed by the Department Chair (in case of Business Management
and Accountancy Academic Organizations) or the College Dean or High
School/Grade School Principal as the case maybe.
4. Only
players officially registered with the Committee on Sports will be allowed to
participate in any event.
5. An
athlete’s participation in games shall be in accordance with the organization’s
population, to wit:

6. Any
athlete caught playing in more than the allowed events shall be barred from further
playing in all his other events; the last event in which he was caught playing
shall be declared a forfeited game.
7. A
handicapping rule shall be applied to varsity2 players. This rule shall
not apply when the opponent is the High School Unit.

purposes of the Ateneo Fiesta, the term “employee” shall include the security
guards and the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Multi-Purpose Cooperative
employees currently and directly serving the community.

“varsity” shall include all regular players currently undergoing official
training in each sports event under the Office of the Athletics Sports Coordinator and those who
have resigned/dropped from the roster during the preceding semester. To be a
regular varsity member, an athlete must be included in the official roster
submitted to the Office of the Athletics Spots Coordinator to represent the institution in any
inter-school competitions.
8. Varsity
coaches shall likewise be considered as varsity. Varsity coaches of
individual/dual events are not allowed to participate in the event in which
they are coaching.

II.
ACADEMIC
ORGANIZATION COLORS AND UNIFORMS
1. The
colors for each organization shall be as follows:

2.
Players are required to wear their organization uniform in all
events. However, should an organization
prefer to have a separate jersey for a particular event, they may do so
provided that the jersey is of the same color as the academic organization
color.
3.
During the elimination round (except the first game), players
may wear their previous organization uniform, provided however, that the color
of the previous uniform is the same as this year’s uniform.
4.
Numbers shall be printed at the back of each uniform or jersey
in events such as basketball, football, frisbee, futsal, volleyball and
softball.
5.
An organization banner (76x106 cm) is mandatory during the
Ateneo Fiesta. A banner raising ceremony
shall be a part of the opening program.
III.

IV.
GAME RULES
1.
All winners in individual, dual or team sports/events shall be
awarded certificate; for the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd
runner-up.
2.
For team sports/events, teams (champion, 1st
runner-up and 2nd runner-up) shall be awarded certificate based on
the number of players,
3.
For purposes of determining the general champion and the ranking
of the competing units, point system shall be based on the modified tally as in
the reference below:

Certificate shall be awarded immediately after the conclusion of
each sport/event when the winners (champion, 1st and 2nd
places) have been officially declared. However, the general championship trophy
shall be awarded during the Awards Night.
V.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The Ateneo Fiesta 2014 shall adopt the double elimination
format except in judo, and taekwondo.
Teams shall be seeded based on the results of the previous ADZU Fiesta
sports competition. Raffling shall be conducted for judo and taekwondo.
VI.
DEFAULTING/FORFEITURE TIME: A team shall default/forfeit its game if
it cannot field a starting line-up fifteen (15) minutes after the scheduled
time and/or after the last call has been announced. However, during championship games, schedules
can be arranged and re-scheduled subject to the approval of the event
Tournament Manager and provided further that the re-scheduling is concurred by
both teams.
A fee equivalent to the referees’/game officials’ honorarium per
game shall be charged against a team which shall default/forfeit its scheduled
game. The team shall not be allowed to
play its next scheduled game unless the default/forfeiture fee has been paid to
the ADZU Finance Office and receipt presented to the event Tournament
Manager.
Should the game be the last game of the team in the round (elimination,
semi-finals and/or finals), the notice of payment shall be delivered to the
academic organization governor or sports coordinator for the necessary
action. Failure to comply with this
provision, the notice of payment shall be re-delivered to the next year’s
organization governor or sports coordinator for proper action.
VII. PROTESTS
AND COMPLAINTS: Only the Organization President/Governor or the Sports
Coordinator or the Team Captain may file protests or complaints before or when
the game is on-going. However, protests shall be limited to any violation of
the general ground rule and not based on technicality. No
protests shall be entertained after the games.
VIII.
UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT: Any player who shall be ejected from any
game for unsportsmanlike behavior shall automatically serve a one-(1) game
suspension. However, after a thorough
review, the suspension shall not prevent the Committee on Sports from meting a
stiffer penalty should the incident warrants.
IX. ALL
OTHER RULES not specifically stated in this Ground Rule shall be referred
to the rules of the game as specified by each event.
